Planning your installation

Choosing a solar installer with confidence

The practical questions that help you compare proposals and choose the people behind your system.

Solar is a long-term purchase. Look at the company, the design and the support as well as the equipment price.

Look for a clear, written proposal

It should identify the panels, inverter and battery where relevant, explain installation inclusions and state any exclusions. Ask how the survey will confirm the design and final costs.

Check certification for the work

Check the installer’s current registration and applicable scope with the relevant scheme. Ask which certificates, grid documents and warranties you will receive after installation. The MCS installer directory is a useful starting point.

Ask how performance was estimated

Look for a forecast based on your roof and location. Savings should identify electricity rates and assumptions about how much generation you use. A single headline percentage cannot describe every home.

Understand aftercare

Know who to contact if the system reports a fault, which warranties apply, and whether monitoring or maintenance services carry charges.

Look at the company’s history

Sunuser Limited was incorporated in 1981. You can check our public company record and read our story before deciding whether we are the right fit.

What is outside the price?

Ask for exclusions in writing, including any roof repairs, supply upgrades, unusual access, backup equipment and ongoing service charges. Check what happens if the survey or installation identifies additional work, and how changes will be agreed. Compare proposals using the same installation scope.

What happens after I accept?

Agree access, expected stages, any electricity interruption and the documents you will receive. Read our survey-to-aftercare guide for questions to use at each stage.
