UK’s leading domestic solar thermal installer

Sunuser was founded in 1981 by 23-year-old Environmental Science graduate Sally Hayton. From humble beginnings installing solar thermal systems, few could have predicted our rise to become the UK’s leading domestic solar thermal installer.

We have always prided ourselves on exceeding customers’ expectations and offering value for money over the long term. That’s why the systems we’ve installed since 1981 are still saving our customers money and we’re still servicing them. Like our company, our solar systems are built to last.

With our expertise, we have always repaired and serviced both domestic and commercial solar thermal systems installed by others. With the recent introduction of the RHI, we are also able to offer solar thermal system upgrades throughout the UK to enable qualification for the RHI payments.

Following the government’s introduction of the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) in April 2010, solar PV systems became an excellent investment for the first time. Sally was quick to research the burgeoning PV market and installed a solar PV system at Sunuser’s Leeds Head Office. We have now successfully installed many hundreds of solar PV systems nationwide and a large number of our existing solar thermal customers have chosen us to install their PV systems.

We’ve also introduced the Professional Sunuser Twin Water Softener into our range of products to help you make savings on your energy bills and improve the efficiency of your heating system.

We take our corporate responsibility seriously – we want to do our bit to reduce global warming and the burning of fossil fuels. In June 2014, a biomass boiler was installed at our Head Office and in association with the Yorkshire Dales Millenium Trust (YDMT) we planted a tree in the Yorkshire Dales to commemorate this.

Since our foundation we’ve supported a number of charities including SolarAidCircus Star and Water Aid and have started recycling our stamps for local charity Take Heart. We support our local community and have donated a Variety Club Sunshine coach to Woodlands Primary School in Harehills, Leeds. School site manager Nick Mildenhall said, “This Sunshine coach will make a huge difference. We will use it to transport pupils, who due to personal circumstances might not otherwise be able to get to and from school.”
